Men's TennisPrior to drawing this on illustrator, I considered many designs, including just drawing the racket or the tennis ball. During the design, I also considered drawing the tennis ball separate from the racket so that it doesn't overlap, but figured it would look better since as seen, it looks as if the tennis ball is getting hit. I also encountered issues with the background, since I merged circles and dealt with overlap to create the stripes on the tennis ball, when I fitted the image into the yellow background, the white circles for the stripes became apparent, so I spent a lot of time with pathfinder to fix it. ChineseIn my design process, I worked with styling the Chinese logo to be based off the word "Chinese" in Chinese. However, I realized that the logo itself might be too complicated and contextually thinking, people who haven't taken Chinese wouldn't understand the logo. Therefore, I went for a more commonly known symbol: Yin and Yang to represent Chinese. Although it may just look like circles stacked on top of each other, I had to use pathfinder to separate the big circle into halves, one black and white, then adding more circles to make it look like what it is now.

1. Star tool to create the trees and mountain
2. Rectangle tool to create the trunks, buildings, window, background, and path 3. Eclipse tool to create the clouds and sun 1. I am at the bottom of the image, surrounded by all the items I used to represent myself. I wanted my collage to represent the tree I added, where the base of the tree are the more important items pertaining to my life and as t gos up, the less important items. I'm at the base of the tree.
2. I used the tree to represent sort of a hierarchy of the most important items in my life. 3. I changed the opacity on my cell phone image so that it blends better with the clarinet and computer. 4. I used the gradient tool on most of my images including my clarinet, controller and phone image to make the blending look better. 5. My quote was "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." This is very meaningful for me because sometimes I feel like I'm too focused on studies and never really spared any time for what I want to do. 6. I used shape to represent my images and value to blend all my images together. I also used a bit of texture to make the more important images stand out. 7. I used emphasis to display the more important images near the base of the tree and lighter images near the top. 8. The image of myself represents the day I was promoted to Executive VP for my volunteer organization, and that was very important to me because I'm very committed to the organization and I was very proud to receive that position. The hamburger represents my favorite food and also a desire to live, since I need food to live. The computer with code on it represents my passion to learn about coding, as I spend a lot of my free time improving my coding skills. The video game controller and the iphone both represent things I use in my free time whenever I'm bored. Since I don't use them all that often, they ended up higher in the list. On the top of the tree I have the Minecraft figure that represented my childhood and memories I made with my friends early on with my life. I also had it hold a tennis racket, as I enjoy playing tennis in my free time as well, although less than video games. Similarly, I also play the clarinet so I put that image in my collage as well. |
